NON-TRADITIONAL TEAM SPORTS
SPORT -sport (or sports) is all forms of usually competitive physical activity which, through casual or organised participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing entertainment to participants, and in some cases, spectators.
SPORT -are highly organized, competitive physical activities governed by rules. They can be classified on the basis of the number of athletes who compete against each other such as individual , dual and team sports ; the level of risk involved in the competition such as extreme sports; and/or the equipment used such as racket and ball sports.
FOUR BASIC TYPES OF GAMES BASED ON TACTICS
INVASION/TERRITORY 01 -a team scores by moving an object into another team's territory and shooting at a target (e.g. goal, basket).
WALL/NET 02 -as in invasion games, the use of space is most important for executing game tactics.
STRIKING/FIELDING 03 -each team is designated a defined period of time for offense (e.g. batting) and defense (e.g. in the field).
TARGET 04 -the offense focuses on throwing or striking an object toward a target unopposed by selecting the best location from which to take the shot.
TRADITIONAL SPORTS NON-TRADITIONAL SPORTS -are those which have their own history, being played for centuries and have some strict rules to be followed. -are sports which you've been watching not for a very long time and do not have much exposure or a bigger market compared to traditional sports. -to win -to enjoy it and have fun -usually have international governing bodies like FIBA -a nontraditional sport is defined as a sport that normally does not have "teams" or a specific national organization or association that represent it.
Importance of including Non-traditional Sports in Physical Education. Incorporating non-traditional sports into physical education exposes students to entirely new possibilities for physical activity. It expands their horizons and shows them there are many ways they can stay healthy and active. It helps children hone a much wider variety of skills (and muscles).
