INFORMATIVE

1. INTRODUCTION Ultrasound (US) is an imaging technology that  uses high-frequency sound waves to characterize tissue . It is a useful and flexible modality in medical imaging, and often provides an additional or unique characterization of tissues, compared with other modalities such as conventional radiography or CT. The first time USG was used for clinical reason in 1956. It was used by an obstetrician named IAN DONALD and an engineer  named Tom Brown.

7. PREPARATION 1. Patient should ideally be fasting for minimum 8 hours. 2. Urinary bladder should be optimally distended.

8. INDICATION 1. OBSTETRIC. USG is the investigation of choice due to absence of ionizing radiation, real time evaluation and easy availabilty .
