RESEARCH, INNOVATION, TECHNOLOGY AND EXTENSION Naujan Lake OWNERSHIP AND JOINT OWNERSHIP ARRANGEMENTS T he intellectual property (IP) rights over research outputs created by students to fulfill course or degree requirements shall belong to the student author(s) , in line with Republic Act No. 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines) .
RESEARCH, INNOVATION, TECHNOLOGY AND EXTENSION Naujan Lake OWNERSHIP AND JOINT OWNERSHIP ARRANGEMENTS Joint ownership, however, shall apply in cases where the student research: receives significant institutional or external funding; is embedded within faculty-initiated or institutionally owned research projects; or is developed under formal partnerships or commissioned work involving external collaborators.
RESEARCH, INNOVATION, TECHNOLOGY AND EXTENSION Naujan Lake OWNERSHIP AND JOINT OWNERSHIP ARRANGEMENTS In such cases, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) must be signed by all parties to define the exact ownership shares, specific usage rights, benefit-sharing terms, and obligations, consistent with Republic Act No. 10055 (Philippine Technology Transfer Act of 2009) and IPOPHL guidelines.

Faculty advisers, mentors, or collaborators may only be listed as co-authors if they have made substantial intellectual contributions in line with accepted authorship standards from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). RESEARCH, INNOVATION, TECHNOLOGY AND EXTENSION Naujan Lake Faculty members who qualify as co-authors shall not only contribute substantially but must also ensure that the research paper is fully revised, refined, and publication-ready , thereby avoiding the submission of raw or unpolished student work in any published, presented, or derivative form. Such contributions shall be credited with equivalent points in faculty performance evaluation systems, promotion applications, and other merit- based recognitions of the University.
