Lovlina secured her Olympic quota, becoming the first woman from Assam to qualify for the Olympics, by entering the semifinals of the Asia & Oceania Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament in March 2020. He is the only Indian wrestler to win 3 medals at the  World Wrestling Championships . He won a  bronze medal  by defeating Kazakhstan’s Daulet Niyazbekov at Tokyo Olympics, where the former  Asian Games  gold medalist dominated the men's 65 kg bronze medal bout from start to finish. The bronze medal match ended in a 8-0 scoreline in favour of Punia .
