Open Access e-Resources Santosh Kumar Kori Librarian Govt. College Makroniya , Sagar M.P.

What is Open Access Open Access (OA) refers to all electronic resources that are made widely available on the internet without licensing and copyright restrictions. Open Access resources can include articles, journals, books, conference proceedings, theses, videos, music, etc. According to UNESCO Open access (OA) means free access to information and unrestricted use of electronic resources for everyone

Advantage of Open Access e-Resources Free for all : Open Access works are publicly available enabling research to be disseminated more rapidly and widely. Visibility: The potential for more people to see and download your research. New readers could be researchers outside the established research environment or researchers from developing countries.

Transparency: Your research integrity is strengthened by the free availability of your research. Especially if you give access to your data and thereby make your research more transparent. This makes your research more credible and allows you to reuse your data for new research projects. Potential for more citations: There is no clear answer as to whether you will get more citations by publishing Open Access. But via Open Access publishing, your research becomes more visible, and thus there is a real potential for more citations.

E-Theses Sodhganga : a reservoir of Indian Theses. T he UGC Notification (Minimum Standards & Procedure for Award of M.Phil. / Ph.D Degree, Regulation, 2016) dated 5th May 2016 mandates submission of electronic version of theses and dissertations by the researchers in universities with an aim to facilitate open access to Indian theses and dissertations to the academic community world-wide. Online availability of electronic theses through centrally-maintained digital repositories, not only ensure easy access and archiving of Indian doctoral theses but will also help in raising the standard and quality of research. This would overcome serious problem of duplication of research and poor quality resulting from the "poor visibility" and the "unseen" factor in research output.
