this whole scene with Jesus and the young
man, and they were flabbergasted by it. They
heard Jesus declare, "Children, how hard is it
for them that trust in riches to enter into the
kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go
through the eye of a needle, than for a rich
man to enter into the kingdom of God" (Mark
10:24,25).
Then Peter, in essence, asked Jesus a
question that every believer should ask: "Lord,
I've left all and followed You. What's in
Christianity for me?" (see v. 28).
Now some believers, including preachers,
wouldn't think of asking the question Peter
asked. Notice, however, that Jesus didn't
rebuke Peter for asking that question. Instead,
He answered him, saying,
"Verily I say unto you, There is
no man that hath left house, or
brethren, or sisters, or father, or
mother, or wife, or children, or
lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
but he shall receive an hundredfold
now in this time, houses, and
brethren, and sisters, and mothers,
and children, and lands, with
persecutions; and in the world to
