Organic Coating

Organic coatings are polymers and resins, produced either naturally or synthetically, usually formulated to be applied as liquids that dry or harden as thin surface films on substrate materials. These coatings are valued for the variety of colors and textures possible, their capacity to protect the substrate surface, low cost, and ease with which they can be applied.

Binders, which give the coating its properties Dyes or pigments, which lend color to the coating Solvents, to dissolve the polymers and resins and add proper fluidity to the liquid Additives Organic coatings are formulated to contain the following

Composition of the coating liquid Required thickness of the coating Production rate and cost considerations Part size Environmental requirements The method of applying an organic coating to a surface depends on factors such as

Phosphate coat applied by dipping, Primer coat applied by dipping, Color paint coat applied by spray coating, and Clear coat (for high gloss and added protection) applied by spraying. An automobile car body is an important example
