INTRODUCTION OPD is a very integral part of a hospital. Outpatient services refer to medical and healthcare services that are provided to patients who do not require overnight stays in a hospital. These services are designed for individuals who need diagnostic tests, treatments, or consultations with healthcare professionals but do not need to be admitted to the hospital for an extended period. TYPES OF OUT PATIENT SERVICES Presentation title Diagnostic Services: This includes various tests and procedures such as blood tests, imaging studies (X-rays, MRIs, CT scans), and other diagnostic examinations. Treatment Services: Outpatient treatment services cover a wide range of medical interventions, such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, infusion therapy, and minor surgical procedures. Consultations: Patients can schedule appointments with specialists or general practitioners for medical consultations, advice, and follow-up care. Rehabilitation Services: Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other rehabilitation services are often provided on an outpatient basis. Wellness and Preventive Services: Routine check-ups, vaccinations, and health screenings are examples of outpatient services aimed at maintaining overall health and preventing illnesses . 6

FUNCTIONS Provide medical consultations with specialists or general practitioners to address various health concerns and Offer advice, diagnosis, and treatment recommendations for patients. Conduct a range of diagnostic tests and investigations, including blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and other imaging studies. Perform minor medical procedures and treatments that do not require hospitalization, such as wound care, suturing, and certain surgical procedures. Offer follow-up care for patients who have undergone previous treatments or surgeries. Organize specialized outpatient clinics led by various medical specialists (e.g., cardiology clinic, orthopedic clinic, dermatology clinic). Provide focused care for specific health conditions or organ systems. Conduct health education sessions to promote wellness, disease prevention, and lifestyle management. Provide counseling services for patients dealing with chronic illnesses or facing challenging health situations. To carry out after care and medical rehabilitation, when necessary, after discharge from hospital. Equipped with necessary medical equipment and technology for examinations and consultations. Diagnostic Imaging Section: Space for diagnostic services such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasound.
