PARTS OF A WAVEFORM
What is waveform is a graphical representation of a signal's variation over time. It shows how a physical quantity, such as voltage, current, or sound pressure, changes as time progresses.
A WAVEFORM
Types of waveforms Sine wave : Smooth and periodic, representing continuous oscillations (e.g., AC power, sound waves). Square wave : Alternates between two levels (e.g., digital signals). Triangle wave : Linear rise and fall. Sawtooth wave : Sharp rise and slow fall.
PARTS OF A WAVEFORM Amplitude The maximum height of the waveform, measured from the centerline (or equilibrium position) to the peak (or trough). It represents the strength or intensity of the wave.
PARTS OF A WAVEFORM Frequency The number of complete cycles a waveform undergoes in one second. It is measured in Hertz (Hz).
PARTS OF A WAVEFORM Wavelength The physical distance between two consecutive points that are in phase, such as two crests or two troughs.
PARTS OF A WAVEFORM Crest The highest point of a wave above the centerline.
PARTS OF A WAVEFORM Trough The lowest point of a wave below the centerline.
