WHAT IS A COPYRIGHT? Copyright (or author’s right) is a legal term used to describe the rights that creators have over their literary and artistic works. Works covered by copyright range from books, music, paintings, sculptor and films, to computer programs, database, advertisements, maps, and technical drawings.

Why are copyright page important? Copyright is important as it helps to protect the value of an author/academic/researchers’ work, by giving the originator of the work the ability to protect it from unlicensed or uncredited usage.

What is plagiarism? >It is the practice of taking someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as your own. >It is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement.

What is a Bibliography?   A bibliography is taken from the Greek word ‘ biblion ’ which means ‘book’ and ‘ graphia ’ which means ‘to write.’ A bibliography contains an alphabetical list of sources like books, periodicals, and websites used by the writer or researcher. A research paper should contain a bibliography written on a separate page and should be located at the end of the paper. Each entry uses a hanging indention , also known as a second line indention . The American Psychological Association (APA) Style is used in social and behavioral sciences.

These are the types or formats of sources of information: print and online. Print Sources. These are sources that have been published in printed format, such as books and periodicals. Books. These are the most common and reliable sources of information. This is the sample format of writing a book bibliography. Format for a book with a single author:

The last name of the author is initially written followed by the first letter of his/her given name. The publication date is enclosed in parentheses. The title of the book is written in italics. The place the book was published ends with a colon. The publishing company is written last. Note the periods after each book information. Note the indention in the second line of the entry.
