SHATONG Striking/Fielding Games activities in which players score points by striking an object and running to designated playing areas or prevent opponent from scoring by retrieving the object and returning it to stop the play. By playing these games, participants will learn the key skills and tactics for games such as baseball and softball. Traditional games include Shatong and Basagang Palayok .

Shatong is not a common sport but a traditional game. A similar game in the Middle East is called Gutalaguti . Played in suburban and rural areas of the Philippines. The game uses two sticks: a long stick (bat) and a short stick (hit).

Shatong is played between two teams: The Hitter (the one who hits the short stick). The Fetcher (the one who fetches the short stick).

How to Play Shatong Objective: Hit the short stick as far as possible. Hitter runs to 4 marked areas (similar to baseball bases). While running, the hitter must shout "Shatong!" as they pass the bases.

Benefits of Playing Skills Developed in Shatong Teamwork Math Skills (counting by 2s and 3s) Physical skills: Batting(hitting) Running Breathing Catching
