3. THE WHITE DOVE According to a biblical story, a dove was released by Noah after a flood in order to find land. It came back carrying an olive branch in its beak, telling that somewhere, there is land and that’s when the Christians used Noah’s dove as a symbol of peace…

4. The Swastika The swastika represents harmony and peace. Swastika can be found on temples or private homes throughout India.

5. RED – courage ORANGE - shows the vision of possibilities YELLOW - represents the challenge that GREEN has inspired GREEN – growth SKY BLUE- suggests to provide education and help to unfortunate people DARK BLUE- reminds us of less fortunate people VIOLET - warmth, beauty and friendship

6. The Origami Crane The origami crane is a famous symbol of peace in Japan which was made by one victim, a twelve year old girl, Sadoko Sasaki. Her story inspired millions of people around the world and her memory transformed the origami crane into an international symbol of peace and hope.

7. The peace sign-nuclear disarmament This symbol was used to represent No Weapons... And only peace. It is a combination of the letters "N" and "D," standing for "nuclear disarmament“.

8. Poppies & Lotus White poppies were used for remembrance of the dead. The Lotus flower symbol is found throughout much of Asia. It represents beauty, enlightenment , health, purity and more peace...

9. The Hand-Gesture This gesture is thought to have begun in Europe during world war II when a V for victory was painted on walls… This gesture was used as a symbol of peace and truth.

10. THE PEACE TREE DAY! The Mayor of Boston proclaims Peace Tree Day on June 1st! Boston is the first city in America to proclaim Peace Tree Day a celebration of peace. Peace Tree Day is celebrated in cities, organizations, hospitals, classrooms, homes and through school boards.
