NEED FOR PEDESTRAINS FACILITIES NEAR MANTRI MALL IN SAMPIGE ROAD(MALLESHWARAM)-A CASE STUDY BY SREENATHA.M 1 ST SEM M-TECH HIGHWAY TECHNOLOGY RASTA-Center for Road Technology

Introduction: Since from few decades vehicle and pedestrains volume gradually increased in urban areas. It creates inconvenience to vehicle and pedestrains traffic. To overcome this inconvenience we provide foot over bridges and subways for pedestains. Present study considered is pedestrains crossing near Mantri mall in Sampige road-Malleshwaram. Scope for this study is to evaluate exisiting pedestrains facilities and suggest the suitable measures.

Objectives: To provide a safe environment for pedestarins. To reduce pedestrain conflicts with vehicular traffic and To reduce vehicle operation cost. To create road conditions this encourages motorist to drive carefully and calmly.

Present study site condition: Two lane undivided carriageway,median not provided. 2.3m footpath on either side of the road and is not properly constructed and maintained. Facilities for pedestrain crossing like FOB,subway,Zebra crossings not provided. A uto rickshaws and Buses are used stop on road to pick up passengers.
