Vapour Recovery Unit 15 Purpose VRU The purpose of VRU installation is utilized to recover small amount of flared gas to reduce Green House Gas (GHG) emission. Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) is a small package of positiv e displacement rotary sliding vane compressor that is utilized to recover small amount of flared gas. VRU – Configuration Suction Scrubber / Compressor Motor/1st &2nd stg Compressor, Intercooler/ /After cooler/Water Cooler/ interstage scrubber/ fin fan motor/ cooling pump / L/O pump VRU – What is it?
Vapour Recovery Unit Sliding Vane Compressors Gas, is compressed by being trapped between blades in segments which became smaller as the segment rotates from its position at maximum blade projection to the point where the segment is open to the discharge port. This position of maximum blade projection is also where gas from the suction port is trapped between blades. As the volume of this segment is reduced, the pressure therein is comparably increased until its pressure is equal to the discharge port area. At that point the leading blade exposes the segment to the discharge port area. Blades are kept in contact with the cylinder wall by centrifugal force and move in and out of the rotor slots during each revolution. A small quantity of lube oil injected into the segment makes compressor valves unnecessary on a sliding vane compressor. VRU Compressor – How it works : 16

Open Drain System Pengelolaan Limbah Cair Function To collect any waste liquid/water on the platform Source Gutter, Drip Pans, Rotating Equipment Skids, Rainwater Fall 20 Closed Drain System Open and Closed Drain System Function Source All Pressurize Drain Vessels / Launchers/ Receivers / pump casing To collect any liquid hydrocarbon drain ed through flash gas separator (Gas Process) or Oil Excess (Crude Process).
Open Drain System Open process drain effluent consists of drips from rotating equipment skids, rainwater, platform spill, wash down from floor drain, peripheral drain through are located throughout the deck area which is connected to open drain header, which is routed to the sump pile. Sump Pile is a vertical pipe and allow for gravity separation of oil from the water. Open and Closed Drain System Close Drains System is provided where hydrocarbons must be drained from equipment for maintenance needs, all the drains from compressor P/F flows through Flare Gas Separator, any flashed hydrocarbon gas is routed to LP Flare header and liquid finally routed to the Sump Tank for separate the hydrocarbon from the water, any flashed hydrocarbon gas from the sump tank is routed to the atmospheric vent header and vented, liquid from Sump Tank then pumped to system for further processing and water in the sump tank overflows to the sump pile. FLOATATION UNIT The flotation units are designed to remove trace amount of oil in the water from the FWKOs and Dehydrators down to about 10 ppm. The units are about 32' long, 6' high and 8' wide. The unit design capacity of about 38,585 bwpd . There are three (four) flotation unit. (two) unit at main deck named OWTP-W-2C/D Wemcos work in parallel, and the other (two) at cellar deck named OWTP-W-2A/B Wemcos are out of standby. Each flotation unit has four cells equipped with motor driven self operating rotor mechanism. As the rotor spins it forces water through a dispenser creating a vacuum. The vacuum pulls gas in and thoroughly mixes with the water. As the mixture of water and gas travels through the dispenser, minute bubble of gas are formed and rises to the surface. Oil particles get attached to the rising bubbles and gather in the form of a thick layer. 32
FLOATATION UNIT The function of the units is used to remove last trace of oil in the produce water of V-1A/2A KO Drum and V-2B/C Electrostatic Dehydrator. this is accomplished by introducing large volume of finely disseminated gas bubbles into the water, under the proper control of the operating variables like amount of gas, level control and chemical treatment, oil becomes attached to the rising tiny gas bubbles and carried to the surface of the liquid to be removed as float material by a mechanical skimmer. At the present time the feed water is coming from outlet V-2A KO Drum V-2B/C Electrostatic Dehydrator flow into W-2C/D, the oil skimmed flow into Launder Tank V-8A/B and the outlet water outlet to sump pile V-7A/B. Total feed to W-2A/B 80,000 BWPD each around 40,000 BWPD feed oil content 150 ppm, oil content in water outlet W-2A/B to sump pile 50 ppm and water discharge to sea around 25 ppm 33
COALESCER OWTP-V-3A WATER TREATMENT The other flotation unit is OWTP-V-3A, it was coalescer and has been modified and converted to be flotation unit with capacity 90,000 bwpd A skimmer mechanism at the top removes the oil layer into the external launders. The unit is provided with high and low level alarm. 34
HYDROCYCLONE WATER TREATMENT Hydrocyclone Hydrocyclones use pressure to force water in a spiral path. They enhance oil removal by increasing the g-force and minimizing the distance an oil droplet has to traverse. As the oily water swirls around the cylindrical chamber, the centrifugal forces force the oil droplets to the center of the chamber, where they coalesce and form a thin core of oil that flows in the reverse direction of the water. The oil exits through a reject oil orifice. The water remains near the hydrocyclone walls and exits out through the hydrocyclone tail section. 35
