How to Play Kasti : Hitting, Catching, and Pitching the Ball 1

A Brief History of the Kasti 2 Quoted from the Nusantara Traditional Games Book (2022), Kasti has been played since the Tudor dynasty , the dynasty of kings and queens in Great Britain in 1744. Many people believe that the Kasti existed before baseball.

What is Kasti ? 3 Kasti is a traditional game played with a ball and two teams. The aim is to hit, catch, and pitch the ball to outsmart the other team. Kasti is a game that helps build teamwork, agility, and coordination. Kasti Equipment: Bat: made of wood Ball: made of rubber

Hitting the Ball 4 The batter tries to hit the ball with a bat or stick, sending it away from the field. Key Tips for Hitting: Stance:  Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Grip:  Hold the bat firmly but relaxed. Eyes on the Ball:  Always keep your eyes on the ball as it comes toward you. Swing Smoothly:  Use your whole body (not just your arms) for power. Follow Through:  Ensure your bat continues moving after contact for greater distance and control.

Hitting the Ball 5 Types of Hitting in Kasti : Basic Hit:  A simple swing of the bat to make contact with the ball. Drive Hit:  A strong, straight hit aimed to send the ball far and fast, typically with more power. Flick Hit:  A quick, wristy flick to send the ball in a tricky direction, making it harder for the fielders to catch.

Catching the Ball 6 The fielder catches the ball to stop the batter from running or scoring. Key Tips for Catching: Positioning:  Stand with your knees slightly bent and ready to move. Hands:  Keep your hands open and form a "basket" shape with your fingers. Watch the Ball:  Focus on the ball as it comes toward you. Catch with Two Hands:  Catch the ball with both hands, not just one.

Pitching the Ball 7 The pitcher throws the ball to the batter, trying to get them out or make the ball difficult to hit. Types of Pitching in Kasti : Underhand Pitch:  A gentle pitch delivered from below, usually slower and easier for the batter to see. Overhand Pitch:  A faster pitch thrown from above, making it trickier for the batter to judge. Sidearm Pitch:  A pitch thrown from the side, making the ball move in different directions. Spin Pitch:  A pitch where the ball is spun to make it curve or dip, making it harder for the batter to hit.

Pitching the Ball 8 Key Tips for Pitching: Grip:  Hold the ball with your fingers on top and your thumb underneath. Arm Motion:  Use a smooth, controlled motion for overhand or underhand pitches. Aim:  Try to aim the ball where the batter might not easily hit it. Follow Through:  After releasing the ball, continue the motion to maintain control and accuracy.

Rules of the game 10 The number of players per team is 10-12 people, with one player acting as captain. Player score points when they are able to hit the ball, run to I base then to II base, and return to home base. The game will change if a friend or the batter is thrown the ball by the opponent.

Main purpose of Kasti 11 To keep the game going, the player must be able to avoid the ball being thrown by the opponent. Kasti matches are led by a referee assisted by 3 linesmen and 1 timekeeper. The game is played in 2 batches. Each half is 20-30 minutes. Between each half a 15 minutes break is given. ***
