Perpetuation of Life (Pagpapatuloy ng Buhay) Science / Biology

Objectives (Mga Layunin) By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to: 1. Explain the concept of perpetuation of life. 2. Differentiate between asexual and sexual reproduction. 3. Illustrate the importance of reproduction in species survival. 4. Appreciate its role in biodiversity.

Perpetuation of Life (Pagpapatuloy ng Buhay) - Continuation of species through reproduction. - Ensures survival and biodiversity. - Without reproduction, life would end.

Types of Reproduction (Mga Uri ng Reproduksiyon) Asexual Reproduction (Aseksuwal): - Single parent, identical offspring. Sexual Reproduction (Seksuwal): - Two parents, genetic variation.

Examples of Asexual Reproduction (Mga Halimbawa ng Aseksuwal na Reproduksiyon) - Binary fission (bacteria) - Budding (hydra, yeast) - Vegetative propagation (plants) - Regeneration (starfish)

Examples of Sexual Reproduction (Mga Halimbawa ng Seksuwal na Reproduksiyon) - Humans - Animals - Flowering plants

Advantages & Disadvantages (Mga Bentahe at Kakulangan) Asexual: ✔ Quick, no mate needed ✘ No genetic diversity Sexual: ✔ Genetic variation ✘ Requires time and energy

Group Activity (Pangkatang Gawain) Group 1: Asexual reproduction – concept map + examples Group 2: Sexual reproduction – concept map + examples

Application (Aplikasyon) Scenario: A farmer plants only one kind of crop for years. What happens if disease outbreak occurs? Relate to genetic variation.

Assessment (Pagtataya) 1. Define perpetuation of life. 2. Differentiate sexual vs. asexual reproduction. 3. Why is reproduction essential? 4. Give 2 examples each of organisms. 5. Explain: 'Biodiversity is strengthened by reproduction.'

Assignment (Takdang-Aralin) Research and bring a picture/example of an organism that reproduces both sexually and asexually. Prepare to share in class.
