With the new housing schemes the city will grow systematically Quality of life is enhanced. Citizen got the idea of how a planned cities work so it is now easy for the government to work on that Hayatabad roundabout

U rban mobility 02

On August 2020 Peshawar citizen got a very safe project called BRT for mobility with in the city It has two parts: the first is east-west corridor have 32 stations. The second part consists of feeder routes for city streets

It connects all the city major places. All buses are electric hybrid having dedicated lanes to avoid congestion. Although it took many trees from the city but still it is somehow good.

bicycles facility from the station. Its around 400 bicycles although cannot be used in summer but may be after that. People really enjoying it

Development patterns 03

Population is increasing due to Conventional & transient migration. Agriculture lands are taken by private housing schemes which is big challenge Agriculture land is divided in to three categories. Land which is irrigated & productive, the second one is productive but water logged & land which is productive but rain fed. Good quality land is in 1 & 2 so we can go for the areas in last one for hous ing.

The future plan includes short term housing, long term & vertical. Industrial zone, city centers & new roads is also planned. In next two decades 1.9 M more people will be added. Source: Urban Policy Unit, Peshawar

There are two commercial developments which inflate the real estate. University road & ring road. University road is saturated now vertical developments is across ring road. Source: Urban Policy Unit, Peshawar

Tree plantation 04

We have many trees planted again on medians & dedicated areas under billion tree tsunami project. NGO, universities & companies contribute in that. The government helps providing trees.

Ministers lands roads

Sustainable challenges 05

There is a total of 612 industrial units in Peshawar, of which 509 are operational and 105 are closed. Hayatabad which is safe gated community has a sector called industrial sector & it has 45 industries. There are brick kilns also in some part of the city which is a problem

waste dust A gri land In 2000, vegetation has decreased to 6.47% with respect to 1990 and urban area has increased to 8 In 2010, urban area is noted to be increased to 4.98% and 3.50% reduction in vegetation has been observed with respect to 2000

Model environmental villages 06

Several small model villages is also planned which will save the agriculture land Low cost housing will be provided for farmers with small parcel of land for farming & cattle space. Source: Urban Policy Unit, Peshawar

Policies 07
