Quezon’s inauguration broadcast on KZRM. 1940s – WWII: KZSO submarine station; KZRH continues under censorship. 1946 – KZSO (KZFM) turned over to PH gov’t; MBC acquires KZRM & KZRH (later DZMB & DZRH). 1947 – Francisco 'Koko' Trinidad lobbies for 'RP' call letters; PH assigned 'D'. 1952 – All PH radio stations adopt 'D' call letters (DZ, DY, DX, DW). 1972 – Martial Law: most independent stations closed. 1986 – EDSA People Power: Radio Veritas crucial; DZRH detailed coverage; ABS-CBN re-launches DZMM. 2000s – Radio remains free, portable, accessible despite digital media. Present – NTC reports 1,600+ AM/FM stations; plus pirate & online broadcasts.
