PIKO, JOLEN AND SHATONG Prepared by: Ashley Kian P. Rabika

PIKO - P iko is the Philippine variation of the game hopscotch. The players stand behind the edge of a box, and each throws their cue ball. The first to play is determined depending on the players' agreement.

HOW TO PLAY PIKO? - A puck or game piece is thrown progressively across the squares, and players have to hop their way across the hopscotch framework according to certain rules without losing balance or stepping on the lines of the framework.

RULES OF THE GAME - C are must be taken in throwing the pamato into their exact places, in hopping and in kicking it out. The pamato and the player's foot must not touch any of the lines. Should the pamato or the player's foot touch the line, he stops, and the other player will have his turn.

WHAT SKILLS ARE INVOLVED IN PLAYING PIKO? - D eveloping coordination and motor skills: Piko is a game that helps develop coordination and motor skills. The game requires players to use both their hands and feet to control the pieces, and this can help players develop better coordination.

JOLEN

-Derived from the phrase "hole in," players hold the ball or marble called holen in their hand. They throw it to hit another players ball out of the playing area. Holen is a variation on marbles in the United States. It is played in a more precise way by tucking the marble with the player's middle finger, with the thumb under the marble, and the fourth finger used to stabilize the marble. JOLEN

Mechanics: Using a stick, draw a medium circle on and assign throwing line is drawn 5 to 6 meters away from the said circle. Every player has a pamato and an anak . All the anak are set on the throwing line(depending on the agreed number of anak ) Players throw their pamato into the line from the circle. The player whose pamato is in the line or closest to the line will have the shot for the first throw. The first thrower tries to hit the anak , endeavoring it to send outside the hole. - Players aim at grouped marbles inside a circle and flick the marble from their fingers. Anything they hit out of the circle is theirs. Whoever obtains the most marbles wins the game. Players ( manlalaro ) can also win the game by eliminating their opponents by hitting another player's marble.

WHAT SKILLS ARE INVOLVED IN PLAYING PIKO? - Jolen is the game that develop the focus and concentration of the player it helps them to hit the marbles with less stress.

SYATONG

Shatong / Shato / Syato / Shatung (whatever) - A Stick Game Stick game, better be good at it - Two players, one flat stick (usually 3') and one short flat piece of wood (4" usually a piece cut from the flat stick). Player A hitter and Player B as the catcher. Played outside on the ground where you dig a small square hole (slanted) where you put the small wood so it sticks out. Player A hits the wood with the stick so it catches air enough to be hit by the stick. The further the wood gets hit the more points you get (usually counted by the number of stick length) Player B on the other hand has to anticipate and catch the small piece of wood to nullify the points and become his turn OR looks forward to Player A to miss hitting the wood.

Note: Number of players: 2 teams with at least two players but you can play it as singles as well. https://youtu.be/RBiZM7aaHzo 1.Batting 2. Counting 3. Running 4. Catching WHAT SKILLS ARE INVOLVED IN PLAYING SYATONG?
