Looking at Plant Cells Health and Safety Safety glasses on during slide production . Slides and coverslips are made of glass – take care when handling. Always place a coverslip over the object before viewing the slide under a microscope. Iodine solution can stain.
Apparatus • coverslip • iodine solution stain • pipette • slide • microscope • onion skin Be careful with iodine solution – it stains skin and clothes! Place all used slides, etc. into the place your teacher shows you. Method A Take a piece of onion skin and place it on the slide. B Put a drop of iodine solution stain on the slide. C Place a coverslip on the drop of stain , lowering it gently. D Observe your cells under a microscope.
