WATER CONSERVATION HUL's Water Conservation and Harvesting project has two major objectives: a)to reduce water consumption in its own operations and regenerate sub-soil water tables at its own sites through the principles of 5R - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover and Renew; b)help adjacent villages to implement appropriate models of watershed development.

Successful water conservation projects undertaken by HUL Project khamgaon before After intervention It was started 7 years ago on a 5 hectare plot It is now a green belt with about 6300 trees. :dry arid barren region in maharashtra

Project Puducherry before After intervention Under this project, eight village ponds were identified for renovation to enhance the water availability. Rainwater harvesting storage of 22300 cu. meter helped fulfill the needs of 4519 households!

It’s a rural initiative that targets small villages with a population of less than 2000 people. PROJECT SHAKTI - Changing Lives In Rural India

Asha daan It was established in 1976,when HUL supported Mother Teresa & the Missionaries of Charity,a home in Mumbai for the abandoned,challenged children & the destitute. SPECIAL REHABILITATION & education

Ankur Kappagam Anbagam In 1993, HUL's Doom Dooma Tea Plantation Division set up Ankur , a centre for special education of challenged children . It was set up in 1998 in the South India plantations of HUL for special education of challenged children. It was started in 2003,also in the South India plantations of HUL .

Providing healthcare Sanjivani –Free mobile medical facility Sanjivani,was started in 2003,to provide effective medical care in villages surrounding HUL’s Doom Dooma factory in Assam. It is a rural health & hygiene initiative,started in 2002,in small villages in north & west india with the objective of spreading awareness about the importance of washing hands with soap. Lifebouy Swastya Chetna(LBSC)

DISASTER RELIEF & REHABILITATION Yashodadham : After the devastating earthquake in 2001, HUL reconstructed a village in the  Kachchh  district , Gujurat . Tondiarpet :Rs. 10 crore - relief and rehabilitation of Tsunami affected families. Distribution of bread and biscuits to over 500 families in Pondicherry. 12,000 cooked meals for families in Chennai,Nagapattinam , Cuddalore and Andamans . Bihar floods    HUL contributed 10, 000 kits worth Rs. 60 lakh as relief material for the families affected in Araria District in Bihar.
