1. Language is a system of arbitrary vocal symbols used in speech community. l anguage and culture are intimately bound process, structure, meaning… primarily spoken and secondarily written

2. Importance of studying language Essential concomitance to the new language program due to the fundamental change in teaching of specific languages. We need a broader practice about the language

3. Students in social sciences feel a need for it. It provides common courses for anthropology, philosophy, and other major languages. It underlies historical and comparative linguistics. It provides with techniques in language analysis. It contributes greatly to the understanding of the human speech.

4. It enables us to understand the workings of language which is mans’ valuable possession.

5. Problems of Linguists The linguists differentiates between language and writings. The linguists is concerned with analyzing language as it is while the laymen is devoted to language correctness.

6. The curriculum in schools suggest a close tie between language and literature; but there are less courses or emphasis in phonetics and phonology and other studies.

7. A number of factors conspire gives us a false notion of the relationship between language grammar and logic. Assumption: any usage that is not logical is wrong.
