The field of ICT offers a wide range of career opportunities across different industries. This is due to the reliance and increasing demand for the use of technology on a daily basis. The following are the most common sectors of ICT: computer programming, visual arts, computer system servicing, and telecommunication. Several career opportunities are available in each sector, which are discussed in the succeeding parts. Sectors and Career Opportunities in ICT
1. Computer Programming A computer performs specific actions based on the instructions from its users through computer programming, the process of writing codes that instructs how a software will do certain tasks. This sector is responsible for creating and maintaining various computer programs that millions of people use every day. Below are career opportunities in the computer programming sector.
A.Computer Programmer A computer programmer is responsible for creating programs or software for hardware components and end-users. Some of the specific tasks of programmers include the process of writing, testing, and maintaining codes using specific programming languages, such as C++, Java, Python, and others.
B. Web Developer A web developer creates, develops, and maintains functional websites used for e-commerce, such as online shopping. marketing, and banking. He or she also uses different programming languages in developing websites, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
C. Game Developer A game developer conceptualizes games with different elements, such as graphics and sounds. He or she is also responsible for writing the codes that run the game, improving user experience by continually testing it. Game developers use different tools such as Unity Engine, Unreal Engine, and other programming languages. Moreover, they are not limited to writing the codes for the game but also take an active role in the process of game development, such as design and production.
2. Visual Arts Visual arts, as a sector of ICT, uses computers to manipulate images and other design elements using specialize software or programs along with various digital devices, such as digital cameras, scanners, and tablets. Career opportunities in visual arts commonly involve the fields of animation, illustration, and graphic design.
A. Animator A digital animator is an artist who uses computers to create moving illustrations for films, commercials or advertisement, education, and business.
B. Illustrator An illustrator is an artist who creates images and design for various purposes, such as films, commercials or advertisement, education, and business.
C. Graphic Designer A graphic designer uses artistic and technical skills to create elements that visually communicate ideas. Graphic designing involves the use of digital tools to create various visual content for different kinds of media, such as print, digital, and multimedia platforms. The work of a graphic designer includes designing layouts, images, and texts to be able to relay a message effectively.

Computer System Servicing Since most human activities are now aided by computers from school projects to office work, and businesses to government transactions and military operations people have become dependent on computers to make their lives easier. However, to sustain computer serviceability and reliability, computers must be regularly maintained. When they break, they must be fixed or repaired. This is where computer system servicing comes in. Computer system servicing is a term applied to the act of supporting and maintaining computer hardware and its software. People are an integral part of this service. The jobs of skilled professionals are what constitute the relevance of computer systems servicing in today's digital age.
A. Computer Service Technician A computer technician diagnoses and maintains different types of computer equipment. A computer service technician does not only check the hardware components, but also finds appropriate solutions to make them function properly. He or she maintains the performance of computers by troubleshooting computer networks and servers and doing appropriate measures, such as installing necessary utility and protection programs.
B. Network Technician A network technician manages and configures network operating systems and hardware. He or she supports and maintains a company's local and wide area network setup and Internet system, such as setting up servers, user accounts, and printer access and password administration. He or she also frequently monitors the network to ensure its stability and availability to the end-users and perform necessary maintenance.
4. Telecommunication Telecommunication refers to the means of disseminating information over different distances through electronic transmission. The information could be in the form of audio, data, image, music, or video.
A. Customer Service Representative Customer service representatives address client needs by responding to complaints, assisting with troubleshooting, directing them to the appropriate department, or processing payments or refunds. They may work in a store dealing with in-person customer needs. They may also work at a call center or at home answering phone and email messages from clients.
B. Call Center Agents A call center agent, also known as contact center agent, interacts with customers and assists them with their concerns through various means, such as emails, phone calls, or social media platforms. Call center agents may be customer service representatives, sales representatives, technical support representatives, or back-office staff.
B. Call Center Agents Inbound agents receive incoming calls from customers to answer questions, receive complaints, or troubleshoot problems. Outbound agents are responsible for making outgoing calls to existing customers to provide them proactive support, inform them about new products or services, or collect feedback from them.

Call Center Agents Technical support representatives are responsible for providing quick solutions to technical and network problems of end-users or customers who own a particular computer equipment or device. Back-office employees may perform any of the following functions: data processing tasks, such as data entry, analysis, and management; human resources duties, such as hiring and training employees and outlining their benefits; or accounting and finance tasks, such as managing records, reporting financial information, and complying with regulations.
C. Telecommunication Operator A telecommunications operator answers phone calls and may provide callers with information or take messages from them for the organization. He or she also transfers callers, routes outgoing messages, or records outgoing messages for the organization. Additionally, he or she manages a directory of contacts.
