Lesson Diversity, Prejudice and Discrimination
I. Diversity - Diversity refers to the inclusion and representation of different types of people, such as those of varying races, ethnicities, genders, ages, religions, abilities, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic backgrounds, within a group, organization, or society. It emphasizes the value of these differences and the importance of fostering an environment where varied perspectives and experiences are respected and appreciated.
Prejudice Prejudice refers to preconceived opinions or attitudes toward a person or group based on stereotypes, assumptions, or limited information, often leading to unfair treatment or discrimination. It involves making judgments about individuals or groups without considering their unique qualities or experiences. Prejudice can manifest in various forms, including racism, sexism, ageism, and religious intolerance.
Discrimination based on Prejudice and stereotyping Stereotype A stereotype is a generalization, or an assumption, people make about a person or group of persons on the basis of their identity.
