WALRUS ( Odobenus rosmarus) A walrus is a large mammal that lives in the sea and has big flippers and very long tusks. S CIENTIFIC CLASSIFICATION : KINGDOM:- Animalia PHYLUM:- Chordata CLASS:- Mammalia ORDER:- Carnivora GENUS:- Odobenus SPECIES:- O.rosmarus 3

H ABIT & HABITAT: Location:- Atlantic walrus lives in the seasonally ice covered northen waters of Canada, Greenland, Norway, Russia. Pacific walrus has a wide range between Russia & US, from bering to the Chukchi seas as well as the laptev sea. Food:- Wide variety of soft invertibrates (clams, snails, sea cucumbers). 4

CHARACTERSTICS :- Two main sub-species of walrus ( i ) Atlantic (ii) Pacific . They have the wrinkled brown and pink skin, flat flippers, & lots of bludder on their body to keep them warm in the cold water. Rounded and fusiform body and the head is square. Both males and females have tusks. Tail is usually hidden by a sheath of skin. Body weight:- Male(800-1700 kg) female(400-1250 kg)

REPRODUCTION:- They reproduce by sexual reproduction. They are polygynous, meaning that one male usually mates with many females. Sexual maturity:- Female(5-7 years) Male(8-10 years) Gestation period (15-16 months). Life span:- Approximately 40 years. 10/9/2021 6

INTERESTING FACTS:- Rarely found in deep water. Rest on eyes or ashore. Highly suspectable to disturbance and noise. Skin changes from brown to pink under sun. They run like the wind. They can slow their heartbeat. 10/9/2021 7

ECOLOGICAL IMPORTANCE:- Keystone species. Hunting and feeding process also has a benefit to the environment. Distructs the sea floor. Sea floor releases nutrients into the water. Maintaning the ecological structure. 10/9/2021 8

CONSERVATION STATUS:- IUCN status:- Vulnerable. Save endangered spacies . Lunching of Alaska wildlife & costs portal. Mitigate climate change. Marine mammal protection act. 9

CONCLUSION:- Walruses now struggle to stay alive as they are habitats are impacted by global warming. Saving the walruses is much more important for the environment. 10

TREE FROG ( Hylidae ) Any species of the frog that’s spent most of it’s life in trees, chiefly of Asia, Australia & America. S CIENTIFIC CLASSIFICATION : KINGDOM:- Animalia PHYLUM:- Chordata CLASS:- Amphibia ORDER:- Anura GENUS:- Hyla SPECIES:- Hylidae 12

HABIT & HABITAT:- Location:- Arboreal tree frogs are mostly lives in trees. Non-arboreal tree frogs find habitats in lakes and ponds. Food:- Insectivores. 13

CHARACTERSTICS:- They come in various colours . Eyes range from relatively small to highly prominent. They can be up to 6 inches long or small enough to sit on a thumbnail. Toetads & long legs helps them in climbing and jumping. Length:- 1.25 to 7 inches. Life span:- 2 to 5 years. 14

REPRODUCTION:- Sexual maturity:- 2 years. They mating mostly in summer season. Female shoots her 150-300 eggs out, through the deposited sperm. The eggs can land off to 1.5ft away. The eggs float on top of the water until they fertilized. Egg incubate:- (2-3 weeks)/Mostly the time varies based on the water temp. 15

INTRESTING FACTS:- They spent time near water despite being arboreal. They can honk 75times per minute. Provide three pest control. Breed in accordance with rain. Lay hundred of eggs at a time. They are adaptable. 16

ECOLOGICAL IMPORTANCE:- Play a vital role in ecosystem they inhabit. Helps in prevent damage to crops. Great garden helper. THREATS:- Habitat distraction. Pollution. Climate change. 17

CONCLUSION:- Hylidae (Tree frogs) are the most tiniest frogs and they equally contribute to the environment as a frog do. 18
