Structural Analysis is the process of breaking down words into their basic parts to identify word meaning.

Parts of words fit together like pieces of a puzzle. The root word or base word is the basic part of a word that has meaning and can be used all on its own. An affix is one or more letters that can be added to the beginning or end of a root word to form a new word with a different meaning.

Prefixes: re paint A prefix is a letter or group of letters added to the beginning a word to change its meaning. The meaning of the prefix can help us understand the meaning of the word. prefix root word re means again repaint means to paint again
