Preparation of the Manicure Table

What is preparation? The word “preparation” means that it is the activity or process of making something ready or of becoming ready for something.

What is the important thing that we should learn to render a successful manicure/pedicure? To render a successful manicure/pedicure, RULES OF SANITATION must be followed.

Things That you must consider : 1. If you are the manicurist/pedicurist you must see to it that the table and your hands are readily clean . 2. Containers, bowl instruments and materials must be in perfect order.

3. Always clean the table after completion of manicure. This will make the manicure more pleasing to the patron or will put her in a more receptive mood for your advice or suggestion.

How to prepare the manicure table?

1. Sponge the manicure table with disinfectant. 2. Place a clean bowl over the armrest or cushion. 3. Place a bowl of warm soapy water to the left of the patron.

Towel or cushion used for drying hands and things.

b. Buffer -used to successively finer grit in order to make nails look more consistent and shiny

c. Nail File -is a tool used to gently grind down and shape the edges of nails.

d. Emery Board -a strip of thin wood or card coated with emery or another abrasive and used as a nail file.

e. Alcohol -used to sanitize and used as an antiseptic

f. Cotton container -an object used for or capable of holding, especially for transport or storage of cottons

g. Finger bowl - small bowl holding water or soapy water for the softening of cuticle

h. Metal Brush -used to design and to remove excess nail polish

i . Wet sanitizer containing manicure implement. -it is where you can place your manicure/pedicure materials to keep it sanitized

j. Tray with nail polishes -it is used to hold the liquid polishes in place

The manicure table drawer should always be clean and neat. Do not use it for articles. Instead, use the plastic bag for waste materials. 4. Place the metal implements and orangewood sticks in a jar sanitizer containing cotton wet with alcohol.

5. Arrange cream jars, lotion bottles, and polishes to the left of the manicurist in the order to be used. 6. Place the nail file, emery board, and clean covered buffer to the right of the manicurist.

7. Attach a small plastic bag to the table with scotch tape, on either the right or left side to receive soiled materials The manicure table drawer should always be clean and neat . Do not use it for soiled articles. Instead use plastic bag for waste materials.

Preparation for a Plain Manicure

Steps in Preparation for a plain manicure

1. Prepare the manicure table . Sponge the top with disinfectant, cover cushion with sanitized towel and place a bowl of warm soapy water to left side of the patron.

3. Seat the patron. 4. Wash your hand. 5. Examines patron’s hand. 2. Select and arrange required sanitized implements, cosmetics, and materials.

Procedures For A plain manicure

1. Remove old polish.

2. Shape the nails

3. Soften Cuticle

4. Dry Finger tips.

5. Apply cuticle remover.

6. Loosen cuticle.

7. Clean under free-edge.

8. Trim the cuticle.

COMPLETION FOR A PLAIN MANICURE

1. Bevel nails.

2. Apply base coat.

3. Apply liquid polish.

4. Remove excess polish.

5. Apply top or seal coat.

6. Apply hand lotion.
