It provides for the protection against rain , snow , sunlight , e xtremes of temperature , an d wind. • It protects from the weather conditions. Roofing increases the value of the house to unimaginable extents. • A roof is much more than just the decorative top of a building . A roof provides protection from the elements and precipitation , helps drain water away from a structure , and provides insulation that h elps keep the interior of a building warm or cool, depending on the season. • Roofing materials are external layers applied on the ro of of a building.These are sometimes self-supporting but are generally supported by underlying s tructures. • The outer layer of a roof varies depending on the availabi lity of material and the nature of the supporting structure .
