1949 The first and oldest university in Bosnia and Herzegovina Sarajevo was first placed on the map of academic centres in this part of Europe in 1573, with the signing of the Waqfname (Book of Endowment) by Gazi Husrev-bey. 2007 Timeline of the Internationalisation (@UNSA) 1965 The first international agreement was signed with the University of Greifswald, Germany marking the beginning of the international path of the UNSA 1970 / 80 s 1984 1992 - 1995 The 14th Winter Olympic Games have brought great attention to Sarajevo Summer schools with the U.S.A. 1980 s Accepting degree students from Africa and Middle East The aggression at B&H and Sarajevo brought great loss in humans and infrastructure. It is estimated that 90.000.000 $ loss UNSA has suffered in destroyed buildings, classrooms, laboratory equipment. It also influenced on loosing 50% of staff as well as brain- drain. 1991 The University of Sarajevo enters the PHARE program 1996 Bosnia and Herzegovina became a member of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology ( COST ) implementing ~ 600 projects until now 1997 The University of Sarajevo start s its first project within the Pre- Tempus Compact Measures for B&H 2000 The University of Sarajevo enters the CARDS program 2007 The University of Sarajevo enters TEMPUS program Bosnia and Herzegovina and the University of Sarajevo are given the Erasmus experience by entering ERASMUS MUNDUS ACTION 2 External Window The University of Sarajevo enters the CEEPUS program which represents Central European Exchange Program for University Studies 2008 2011 The University of Sarajevo enters the MEVLANA , a programme which aims the exchange of students and academic staff between the Turkish higher education institutions and higher education institutions of other countries 1998 The University of Sarajevo enters the FP5 program followed by Horizon2020 and HorizonEurope
