Key engine of economic growth in developing countries:  60% of GDP 80% of capital flows 90% of jobs Will be needed to:  Create the jobs needed to support adaptation Develop the goods and services needed for societies to become more climate-resilient Finance – directly or indirectly – many adaptation actions Why should the private sector be engaged in NAP processes?

Private sector engagement in adaptation Private enterprises - Addressing adaptation in business decisions: changes to operations; developing and selling adaptation goods/services Private financiers – Provide direct financing to private enterprises for their adaptation actions; can support government interventions, including through blended finance/innovative instruments.  

Enabling factors for private sector engagement in the NAP process Strategic and well-informed inclusion of the private sector in climate change adaptation planning and activities must be a key part of all countries’ efforts to adapt to the impacts of climate change. Governments play crucial role in facilitating private sector engagement.
