Introducing
“If you want them to listen, speak their language”
Dr. Taibi Kahler, creator of PCM
PCM is a complete tool kit for managing communication based on an award-winning theory and developed for use by NASA in
astronaut selection and team building. The model has been used by over 1 million people in 38 countries.

“How would you feel if you could truly understand the people around you just by hearing how and what they speak?”

Process Communication Model®
More than 45 years of continuous evolution and development

1978
1981
1972
In 1978, Dr Terry McGuire, Lead Psychiatrist for Manned
Spaceflight at NASA, asked Dr Kahler to sit in on astronaut
selection interviews. Dr McGuire stated that Kahler‟s „process‟
approach revealed as much about a candidate in 10 minutes
as a „content‟ interview of several hours
As news of Dr Kahler’s work spread, a number of CEOs saw value in
the concepts and asked that they be translated into management
terms. Meeting this demand was the catalyst in Dr Kahler’s decision
to expand into the commercial world in 1981
PCM originated from a clinical model developed in 1972 by Dr
Taibi Kahler, internationally recognised clinical psychologist from the
United States. His work focuses on the „how‟ of communication
between people. His research and its publication led to him receiving
the 1977 Eric Berne Memorial Scientific Award for the most important
scientific discovery of the year in his field of psychology

TODAY
The principles of PCM are used for improving personal
relationships, for employment selection and placement, for
motivating sales and service teams, for conflict management and
for improving safety in high risk and life-critical environments.
Over 1 million people from 38 countries and in 18 different
languages have now experienced PCM

Learn the skills to observe, analyse and adjust behaviour through effective interaction
Main perception – how they mentally perceive and interpret the world. This
will dramatically increase your ability to adapt your language, arguments and
interaction style
Management style – when working with others, at home or in the office,
what management approach comes most natural to them and what is least
natural
Psychological needs - what truly matters to them and what drives them.
This will increase your relating skills, up your negotiation and help you make
better proposals
Distress sequences – PCM will help you to anticipate (being able to observe
it even before they are aware of it) and defuse the destructive behaviours of
the people you interact with
In business and in personal life, being able to accurately “read” the person you are interacting with is vital. With PCM, you will…

Learn to understand your own
behaviour and why you respond in
a particular way to certain
situations
Learn the skills that will allow you
to observe and decode others‟
behaviour
You will understand where they‟re coming from,
recognise when they are under pressure and predict
and identify the onset of disruptive behaviour

• According to PCM, individual personality structure is composed of six types of personality
• Each of us has all six of the personality types defined by Kahler in differing orders and strengths, in a
personality condominium, in which a person’s “Base” personality type is the ground floor: the easiest and most
accessible, and thus, the most developed personality type in us, with the strongest influence on our behaviour. The
weakest and least accessible personality is the sixth floor
• Each participant to the PCM training will receive their own Personality Inventory Report, thus being able to
analyse and understand their own personality condominium
• The six personality types are: Thinker, Persister, Harmonizer, Imaginer, Rebel and Promoter. They were
identified statistically, then correlated with these main characteristics:

Differentiators and tangible results
Differentiators: why PCM and not other model?
•It predicts behaviour and provides personalised solutions
for:
Managing distress and resolving conflict
Increasing motivation
Effective communication and connection
•It accurately predicts how people will react in distress and
teaches what we can do to help them
•It is a dynamic model; takes into account the fact that people
change and you’ll understand why and how they change

It has a clear structure & ease in understanding – the core
PCM concepts can be taught in just 3 days of training

Offers Immediate Return on Investment – even if it takes time
to fully internalize all the model’s concepts, people who undergo
PCM training confirm tangible results even before the 3 day
training is completed.
6
Measurable results
Great training should be judged by its impact.
A three-year global study by Indiana State University on the PCM
training impact in six different countries showed significant,
lasting positive impact for participants:
Personal relationships – 60% improvement
Work relationships – 63% improvement
Leadership skills – 61% improvement
Team performance – 62% improvement
Soft skills – significant increases in personal efficacy
that lasted even six weeks post training
Recommendation – 96% of participants would
recommend PCM to others
Comparison to other models – 95% of our own
training participants rate PCM as superior to any other
model of communication and individual differences
they’ve experienced.

Feedback on PCM

“Taibi Kahler is a genius. He
knows more about personality
dynamics than anyone I know in
the world” - Bill Clinton, 42nd
President of the United States
“PCM, both with NASA and in daily activity has
become for me like MacGyver’s Swiss army
knife, always with me and endlessly useful” - Dr.
Terence McGuire NASA’s former Lead
Psychiatrist for Manned Space Flight
“My PCM experience was hugely useful in
helping me manage the film making
journey over six years. It's been such a
valuable tool!” - Katherine Sarafian,
PIXAR Animation Studios Producer and
Certified PCM Trainer
“Self awareness is so important and so rare nowadays and PCM gives you
excellent tools for getting to know yourself and the ones around you better,
to understand how each of us could communicate better, to identify the
signs of distress and to tackle them timely and effectively. After PCM, I feel
I am significantly better equipped for my job as a recruiter and for my life in
general” - Mihaela Maiug, HR Specialist, EUROPOL
“PCM is an exact science, logical and clear, yet still magical. My fascination with the Process
Communication Model also comes from it’s domains of application. I feel and believe that it
brings great value in any activity that requires communication […]. How would you feel if you
could truly understand the people around you just by hearing how and what they speak?” -
Delia Soare, Director Consumer Markets, Vodafone Romania
