INTRODUCTION OF BUBBLE DECK SLAB The biaxial voided concrete slab. High density polyethelyne hollow ball are used. Inactive concrete is eliminated. This floor system used for multi storied buildings. More rapid and less expensive in construction. Elimination of down–stand beams.

NEED OF STUDY Economy of the structure . Less dead load of the structure . Environmental friendly design . Use of recycled plastic material (green design).
OBJECTIVES To Reduce self-weight. To develop green structure member (Concrete Slab). To decrease cost of concrete slab. Recycled plastic material is used.
SCOPE OF FUTURE Used for constructing all types of building. Best for larger span halls. Pedestrian bridge. Decreases number of columns. Good for parking areas.
ADVANTAGES Structural:- Less weight Increased strength No need of deep beams Less no. of column are required Larger span Shallow foundation depth
Construction:- Light in weight due to replacement of concrete by plastic ball.. Less work on construction site. Precast specimen used which is time saving on site. Economical:- Savings in material. Faster construction time.
MATERIALS Materials used The materials used in the present work are cement, water, Plastic Hollow Spheres (Recycled Plastic Balls) , sand, aggregate ,steel, etc.
1. Cement Ordinary Portland cement as a hydrated paste is the binder of concrete. The binder, often called the cement gel, governs in large part most of the properties of the concrete. Ordinary Portland cement of grade 43 confirming to IS 8112-1989 is being used. The specific gravity of cement calculated by the use of Specific Gravity Bottle was found out to be 3.14. Fig3. Ordinary Portland Cement
2.Aggregate The fractions from 10 mm to 4.75 mm are used as coarse aggregate. The Coarse Aggregates from 10 mm are used conforming to IS: 383 is being use. Fig4. Coarse Aggregate
3.Water Potable water is used for mixing and curing as per IS 456:2000. From durability consideration water cement ratio should be restricted as in case of normal concrete and it should preferably be less than 0.45. . The amount of water in concrete controls many fresh and hardened properties of concrete including workability, compressive strength, permeability, water tightness, durability and weathering, drying shrinkage and potential for cracking. For these reasons, Limiting and controlling the amount of water in concrete in important for more constructability and service life.
4.Concrete The concrete used for joint filling in the Bubble Deck floor system. Usually conventional concrete is used, for the casting of bubble deck slab. The nominal maximum size of the aggregate is the function of thickness of the slab. The size should be less than12mm. M30 Grade should be used. Fig 5. concrete
5.Reinforcement bars The reinforcement of the plates is made of two meshes, one at the bottom part and one at the upper part that can be tied by binding wire. The distance between the bars is corresponding to the dimensions of the bubbles that are to be used in the slab . Grade Fy500 strength is used . Fig 6. Steel
6.Hollow bubbles The bubbles are made using high density polyethylene materials. These are usually made with nonporous material that does not react chemically with the concrete or reinforcement bars. The bubbles have enough strength and stiffness to support safely the applied loads in the phases before and during concrete pouring. The diameter of bubble is 62 mm and the distance between bubbles is 12 mm. The bubbles are spherical in shape. Fig 7. Bubble Deak Fig 8.Section of Bubble deck slab
PROCEDURE Procedure of casting bubble deck slab- The reinforcement mesh is placed both side of the bubbles and bubbles are arrange in continuous manner. Requirement of reinforcement is only straight shape of bar in the slab as per the design. Bottom reinforcement is 8mm @ 107mm c/c spacing and 8mm @93mm c/c spacing also provided in alternative manner and Top reinforcement is 6mm @ 107mm c/c spacing and 6mm @93mm c/c spacing also provided in alternative manner. Total length of bars is 5000 mm. Reinforcement mesh is placed in the formwork and maintains the cover by cover block,

METHODOLOGY 1.Design of conventional slab… (refer IS 456:2000) 2.Costing of conventional slab. 3.Design of bubble deck slab ..( refer DIN 1045:2001) german standard 4.Costing of bubble deck slab.
EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES 1.Deflections - 5% more as solid deck 2. Weight - 20% less than a solid slab 3.Heat resistance - 25 % of solid slab
WEIGHT OF HDPE BALL Considering the HDPE Hollow Ball Thickness to be 180 mm in diameter. And it replaces the middle concrete sphere of the same diameter. So the concrete sphere is of 180 mm in diameter. The weight of the HDPE Hollow Ball weighs 154 grams as shown in fig. Fig No - 9. Measuring Weight of Hollow HDPE ball on Weighing Machine
RESULT Cost of Slab : 1. Cost of conventional slab including columns : 74500 /- 2. Cost of bubble deck slab including columns : 55400/- Weight Reduction : About 20 % cost reduced in bubble deck slab. The Difference between the weight of ball and weight of Concrete sphere = 7.63 Kg.
CONCLUSION It is concluded that load, deflection and weight parameters gives better result for bubble deck slab as compared to conventional slab. Heat resistance. It enables reduced foundation sizes since the structural dead weight is reduced. Bubble deck slab has improve the elasticity property of slab. Makes the building soundproof comparatively.
