Immerse yourself in nature at Sehlabathebe and Tsehlanyane National Parks, home to diverse wildlife and breath-taking landscapes . Lesotho invites you to explore its unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage—a journey like no other awaits in the Kingdom in the Sky.
Maletsunyane Water-fall Semonkong, or place of smoke, is a village located in the south-west of the country, in the Maseru region . The name “place of smoke” is due to the nearby Maletsunyane Falls which are the highest single jump falls in southern Africa at 192 meters and which create a rainy mist around them that’s where the name comes from. These waterfalls fall from a basaltic ledge of a narrow gorge bordering the Maletsunyane River . According to legend, it is said that the noise produced by the water of the falls is the cry of lamentation of the souls of those who have drowned. The waterfalls can be reached by a nice 5km walk or with your own vehicle. If you arrive by car, you will find a small cabin with a fence that blocks the entrance to the park . Here you will need to pay 100 maloti (about 6 euros) as entrance to the waterfalls. Afterwards, you will need to follow the road to the visitor centre they are building.

Pony Trekking The horse is a source of pride in Lesotho and the Basotho are renowned as a nation of horsemen . For generations, the sure-footed Basotho ‘pony’ has been bred as the ideal form of transport in the rugged mountains . Pony trekking holidays on the hardy Basotho ponies are immensely popular and a fantastic way of exploring Lesotho’s beautifully rugged terrain as the bridle paths that criss-cross Lesotho are barely wide enough for vehicles but the ponies effortlessly dodge obstacles and loose rocks.

Thaba Bosiu Cultural village The Thaba Bosiu Cultural Village is located at the foot of the Thaba Bosiu plateau and is set along the Rafutho axis which is the main path up the mountain. For any tourist to Lesotho, the Thaba Bosiu Cultural Village is a “must see” destination for a contemporary, yet uniquely Lesotho experience. Located 24km outside of the city of Maseru, Thaba Bosiu is a National Monument and Lesotho’s foremost tourist destination holding great historical significance as the birthplace of the Basotho People. It is a sandstone plateau where King Moshoeshoe I, the founder of the Basotho Nation established what turned out to be a formidable fortress that protected his People during amongst others, the Lifaqane (Mfecane) war. “Thaba Bosiu” which means “Mountain at Night” was believed to possess supernatural powers which made it grow into a tall mountain during the night leaving enemies who tried scaling it still stranded on its cliffs and vulnerable for attack the next morning.

Thabana Ntlenyana Thabana Ntlenyana is the highest mountain in southern Africa . It stands 3,482 metres (11,424 ft) tall within the lofty Maloti Mountains that crest Lesotho, a small landlocked nation surrounded by South Africa . The peak's name means "beautiful little mountain" in the Sesotho language , from thaba (mountain), the diminutive and ntlenyana (beautiful ). Thabana Ntlenyana is situated on the Mohlesi ridge, north of the treacherous Sani Pass . The peak is climbed as part of a "Grand Traverse" of the Maloti, which follows a large system of peaks within the Maloti (Maluti) and the broader Drakensberg.

End of presentation Visiting Lesotho's tourist spots feels amazing, like exploring a hidden gem. The mountains, waterfalls, and cultural villages are breathtaking. We should take care to preserve these wonders for others to enjoy . It's great to visit, but let's also respect the environment and local communities. Consider joining eco-friendly tours and supporting local businesses for a truly enriching experience . Thank You By: Matlotlo MMaeketseng
