INTRODUCTION ABOUT RDSO 1853 – Railway was introduced in India. 1903 – IRCA was set up. 1930 – IRCA was changed to CSO. 1952 – Due to increased demand of Rail transportation RTRC was set up. 1957 – CSO and RTRC was integrated in a single Unit named as RDSO at LUCKNOW under the control of Ministry of Railway 3
WORKS OF RDSO Development of new and improved designs. Development and adoption of new technologies for use in RDSO. Development of standards for materials and products especially needed by Indian Railways. Technical investigation , statutory clearance ,testing and provision of consulting services. Inspection of critical and safety items for rolling stock , locomotives, signals,Telecommunications equipment and track. 4
SIGNAL LABORATORY Signal Testing Laboratory undertake testing of all types of signalling equipments involving safety such as Signalling Relays, Block Instruments, Power Supply Equipments, Point Machines, Signalling Cables, Electromechanical Signalling Equipments/Components, Modern Signaling equipments, etc. There is an exclusive section for environmental testing equipped with range of climatic test facilities as per ISO 9000. These include programmable environmental (heat & humidity), dry heat, cold, mould growth, salt mist spray, dust, rain chambers etc. 5
