PASSAGE
READING
PASSAGE
BY,AYUSHI SHARMA

On a misty autumn morning, Rahul cycled swiftly along the
narrow lane leading to his school. The ground was damp with
dew, and the fragrance of wet earth lingered in the air. As he
passed the old oak tree, he spotted a fledgling lying helplessly
on the grass. Its feathers were ruffled, and it trembled with fear.
Rahul hesitated for a moment, aware that stopping might make
him late for his mathematics test. Yet, his conscience urged him
to act. He carefully lifted the bird and placed it in a sheltered
corner, away from the cold wind. Though he arrived at school a
few minutes late, Rahul carried with him a sense of quiet
satisfaction that no test score could equal.

Comprehension Questions
1.Describe the setting of the passage.
2.What dilemma did Rahul face when he saw the fledgling?
3.How is Rahul’s character revealed through his actions?
4.Why does the writer say, “no test score could equal” Rahul’s
satisfaction?

and why?
