REFORESTATION
 Forests are extremely important natural resources. We all depend on
forests resources for our livelihood, from the air we breathe to the wood
we use.
 Reforestation is the practice of restoring or replacing forests that have
been damaged or destroyed for the benefit of people.
 Both the terms “reforestation” and “afforestation” denote the same.
 Afforestation is simply another name for reforestation.
 Generally, trees of the same species that were present prior to
deforestation are planted during reforestation.
 To maintain the ecological balance, it is important to plant at least the
same count of plants that were destroyed for human benefits.
 We should plant at least as many trees as have been cut down.
 Forests are called green wealth of a country.
 Reforestation can also take place naturally. If the deforested area is left
undisturbed for some time it re –establishes itself by the growth of
trees. This is called natural reforestation. There is no role of human
beings.
Advantages of Reforestation:
 It produces a large quantity of raw material for industry, timber ,etc
 It reduces global warming.
 It increases rainfall which increases underground water level.
 It prevents soil erosion and floods.
 It helps in conservation of wildlife.
