Renewable and non renewable sources of energy and wind energy Presenting by Sourabh V Bhat
INTRODUCTION Energy exists in the earth or comes from the outer space Capital Energy-The energy existing in the earth Celestial Energy-The energy which comes from the outer space
Classification Of Energy Sources B ased on availability and usage with respect to time Conventional energy sources Non conventional energy sources Based on the possibility of renewability Renewable energy sources Non renewable energy sources
Renewable Energy Sources These are continuously restored by nature They are also called as inexhaustible sources of energy
Advantages Of Renewable Energy Sources Non-exhaustible Can deliver the energy required for a specific task Can be built on or close to the site where energy is required Reduce the cost of operation as the energy resources are natural
The Disadvantages of Renewable Energy It is difficult to generate the quantities of electricity that are as large as those produced by traditional fossil fuel generators. Renewable energy often relies on the weather for its source of power. Hydro generators need rain to fill dams to supply flowing water.
Non Renewable Energy Sources These occur once in nature and on usage, they practically cease to form under new geological conditions
Non-renewable energy is the more traditional source of energy and is most commonly known as fossil fuels. Non-renewable sources of energy are much cheaper than renewable sources but are harmful to the environment.
Advantages of Non Renewable Non-renewable energy sources cannot be replenished in a short period Abundant and affordable Cost effective and easier to produce and use Reliable supply Available in highly concentrated form
Disadvantages of Non Renewable Once sources of non-renewable energies are gone they can’t be replaced or revitalized The mining of non-renewable energy and the by-products they leave behind causes damage to the environment The burning of fossil fuels continues to rise producing high levels of CO2 which is a major cause of global warming.
Wind Power Wind energy is the energy contained in the wind blowing across the earth surface
Winds are caused by uneven heating of atmosphere by the sun . hence it is an indirect form of solar energy.

PARTS OF WIND TURBINE
Working of wind power plant Wind turbines harness the wind energy to generate electricity .Here ,in short ,is how they do. Wind makes blade turn Blade turn a shaft Gearbox connected to the shaft increases rotational speed
The kinetic energy in the wind turns into two or more propeller like blades around a rotor. The rotor is connected to the main shaft , which spins a generator to creat electricity.
Advantages of wind power plant Energy for free of cost Produces electricity throughout the day Pollution free and clean Vast wind energy is available Can supply the power to remote areas
Disadvantages of wind power plant Low energy density Irregular, unstudy wind energy Variable speed and wind direction Can be located only in vast open areas Complex design
