REVIEW OF ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY OF BRAIN BY Antareep Sarania M.Sc. Nursing 1 st Year College of Nursing, NEIGRIHMS

DEFINITION "The brain is a complex organ composed of billions of neurons and glial cells, functioning as the control center of the nervous system. It coordinates sensory input, processes information, and directs motor responses. It is responsible for higher cognitive functions such as thought, memory, emotion, and reasoning, regulating vital bodily functions and maintaining homeostasis."

ANATOMY OF THE BRAIN

ANATOMY OF THE BRAIN

PHYSIOLOGY OF THE BRAIN NEURON AND SYNAPSES BRAIN FUNCTIONS

NEURON AND SYNAPSES “Neurons”: "The brain is made up of billions of neurons, which are specialized cells that transmit information through electrical and chemical signals. "Synapses: "Connections between neurons where neurotransmitters are released to communicate signals."

FUNCTIONS OF THE BRAIN Sensory Processing: "The brain processes information from our senses (sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell) to help us understand and interact with the world. "Motor Control: "The brain sends signals to muscles to coordinate movement. "Cognitive Functions: "Includes memory, learning, problem-solving, and decision-making. "Homeostasis: "Regulates internal conditions like temperature, hunger, and thirst."

SUMMARY

CONCLUSION The brain is a highly intricate organ that serves as the control center for the body, overseeing everything from basic life functions to complex cognitive processes. Understanding its structure and functions helps us appreciate how it processes information, regulates bodily activities, and enables our thoughts and behaviors.
