SUMMER INTERNSHIP PRESENTATION BY VUNDAVALLI KARTHIK VARDHAN (20NG1A0127)

" Summer Internship on Bitumen Road construction in Gopalapuram " TITLE

The State of Andhra Pradesh has been experiencing frequent droughts during the recent years frequent drought is a difficult fact of life for farmers in the rain-shadow districts of Andhra Pradesh. CONTRACTOR DETAILS : M.G.V.R. Mohan Rao (Gandhi) Ph.no:9849621919

The State of Andhra Pradesh has been experiencing frequent droughts during the recent years frequent drought is a difficult fact of life for farmers in the rain-shadow districts of Andhra Pradesh. CONTENTS: Laing of WET MIX MACADAM (WMM) Quality control Brooming Priming of Bitumen Laying of Bitumen Road

The State of Andhra Pradesh has been experiencing frequent droughts during the recent years frequent drought is a difficult fact of life for farmers in the rain-shadow districts of Andhra Pradesh. LAYING OF WMM: The material is well mixed with water and rolled to a dense mass. It is constructed with 5 inch thickness and width of 3.9M.

STUDY AREA: MUSUNURU MANDAL Fig(a):Laying of WMM pavement and Rolling

Agricultural Drought assessment in Oct-2015 QUALITY CONTROL: Quality control is the responsibility of the construction contractor who should prepare and execute a QC plan for the bituminous paving project. Quality assurance is the responsibility of the owner. By using camber board the slope of the pavement is taken

Agricultural Drought assessment in Oct-2015 In QC the thickness of road is tested by a measuring scale and width of the pavement is also measured. Sieve analysis is done for WMM pavement.

s.no IS SIEVE SIEVES(mm) % BY WEIGHT 1 53 100% 2 45 95-100% 3 22.4 60-80% 4 11.24.75 40-60% 5 4.75 25-40% 6 2.36 15-30% 7 600 MICRON 8-22% 8 75 MICRON Table(a) 0-8%

So by keeping in view of all these factors we considered the Musunuru mandal as Study area. Fig(b) Quality control

So by keeping in view of all these factors we considered the Musunuru mandal as Study area. BROOMING: The action of removing dust or dirt from a surface with a bristle brush or another object that performs the same function, to help the bonding of the material used for the surface. If by brooming dust are not removed then manually they do this process ,4 persons are needed.

So by keeping in view of all these factors we considered the Musunuru mandal as Study area. Fig(C):Brooming using air compressor

So by keeping in view of all these factors we considered the Musunuas Study area. Priming of Bitumen: Bitumen primer is applied to any surface that bitumen needs to adhere to. The bitumen is sprayed along the pavement and on that bitumen pavement is constructed.

So by keeping in view of all these factors we considered the MusunuasStudyar . Fig(d): Priming of bitumen

An asphalt batch mix plant starts its work by heating and weighing aggregates, followed by heating and weighing bitumen. The batch mix is then considered with filler material, and towards the end, aggregates, filler material and bitumen are mixed to create a hot mix of asphalt. Bitumen mixing plant: Bitumen is heated up to a temperature of 205 o , one unit of asphalt is up to a cost of 20,000rs . One unit of asphalt mix we can spread along a distance of 17M . Thickness of the pavement lie between 28mm to 35 mm .

An asphalt batch mix plant starts its work by heating and weighing aggregates, followed by heating and weighing bitumen. The batch mix is then considered with filler material, and towards the end, aggregates, filler material and bitumen are mixed to create a hot mix of asphalt. The width of the pavement is 3.75m. One unit of asphalt mix is equal to 2.4toones.

LISS3 images are obtained from BHUVAN website. Fig(e):Asphalt mixing plant

So by keeping in view of all these factors we considered. In testing of asphalt mix for every 500 grams of asphalt mix their should be 25 grams of bitumen should be their as per instructions made by the quality control officres. Fig (f):Asphalt mix testing

An asphalt batch mix plant starts its work by heating and weighing aggregates, followed by heating and weighing bitumen. The batch mix is then considered with filler material, and towards the end, aggregates, filler material and bitumen are mixed to create a hot mix of asphalt. construction of bitumen road: Bitumen roads are among the most commonly used types of roads worldwide, and they are known for their durability and resilience. In construction total 20 persons are required and they will charge 700rs per day. Per day the construction length will be 2-3km.

So by keeping in view of all these factors we considered. Fig(g): construction of bitumen pavement

The batch mix is then considered with filler material, and towards the end, aggregates, filler material and bitumen are mixed to create a hot mix of asphalt. Conclusion’s: In this summer internship I knew the process and steps to be taken in construction of roads. I have involved in quality of roads and I knew the precautionary measures in construction of pavement.

CREATION OF NDVI MAP IS COMPLETED THANK YOU
