Role of Mid-level
Management
Middle management is a critical role in any organization.
Hla Khaing, Chief Engineer
Introduction
•Middle management is the layer of management between senior
executives and front-line managers. Middle managers are responsible
for carrying out the decisions made by senior executives and ensuring
that they are executed efficiently and effectively. They also play a vital
role in communicating with and motivating employees.
Key roles of middle management
•Implement and execute senior management's strategies and plans. Middle managers are
responsible for translating senior management's vision into actionable steps that can be
implemented by front-line employees. They also need to develop and implement tactical
plans to achieve the organization's goals and objectives.
•Manage and develop employees. Middle managers play a key role in developing and
motivating their employees. They are responsible for setting performance goals,
providing feedback, and coaching and mentoring employees. They also need to create a
positive and productive work environment.
•Communicate between senior management and front-line employees. Middle managers
serve as a bridge between senior management and front-line employees. They are
responsible for communicating senior management's goals and expectations to front-line
employees, and for relaying feedback from front-line employees to senior management.
•Solve problems and make decisions. Middle managers are often faced with complex
problems and decisions that they need to solve on their own. They need to be able to
think critically and make sound decisions under pressure.
Benefits of having a strong middle
management team
