ROPLAS TEST Regurgitation on pressure over lacrimal sac used to check lacrimal patency. Roplas test may be +ve (if mucus discharge) or –ve (if no mucus discharge). • •
Procedure We start by palpation and apply pressure over the lacrimal sac with index finger and press inwardly. Look for regurgitation of mucopurulent discharge from the puncta. Case 1: if mucus discharge regurgitating from puncta indicates the blockage of nasolacrimal duct, which is +ve roplas test. Case 2: no mucus discharge indicates normal nasolacrimal duct, which is –ve roplas test.
