Poor Wpn Handling - Ensure safe wpn handling
THE MAIN CAUSES OF CASULTIES Flying Accidents Bad Weather The Misuse of Trg Aids and Pyrotechnics
Fire : Dry weather (pyrotechnics, tracer, cooking, smoking) Battlefield rubbish (trenches, rubbish, wire obstacls , amn , clearance from govt.) Country code (corps, permission to enter, cutting of foilage , disturbing livestock) Vehicle movement (co-drivers, foot recce) CAUSES OF DAMAGE
THE MAIN ELEMENTS OF THE DAMAGE CONTROL Damage Control HQ Comns Damage Repair Tps
Damage Control HQ This should wherever possible be co-located with the ex Control HQ, and should include watch keepers and representatives of the claims branches Comns Normal exercise comns are best used for reporting damage (or neutral comns if they are likely to be quicker) Addl links to troops allotted to repairing damage
Damage Repair Tps Tps will normally be found by the units taking part in the ex supported by the Bde of Engrs They will require tpt , eqt , mechanical plant and basic repair materials such as timber, wire and gravel
PUBLIC RELATION(PR) IN EXS There are two PR aspects to exercise: Real PR consideration during exercise plg and PR cover during the exercise Exercise PR play as part of trg
Normally maximum publicity should be obtained from an exercise In some cases, for reasons of security or because of political sensitivities regarding the ex area or aim, publicity must be abandoned and a defensive line taken When a defensive line is necessary a PR brief is to be prepared and distributed to all concerned before the ex starts REAL PR
REAL PR Where there is no restraint on publicity, the following action is required : Issue of a news release well before the exercise, inviting media coverage Adm arrangements, incl the provision of conducting offrs , must be made for media representatives who wish to cover the ex Attachment of a PR team to cover the ex On large exercises only, estb of a press center
REAL PR Bad publicity can be unnecessarily caused by Thoughtless ex plg Damage Poor traffic discipline and movement plg Noise and low flying aircraft are the main causes of bad publicity
