THE EARTH’S WATER

IMPORTANCE OF WATER

Living things need water to survive.  It helps regulate body temperature in humans and animals.

 Water plays a key role in the digestion process for both humans and animals.  It is essential in cleaning and sanitation for both humans and animals.

 Many animals and plants live in bodies of water.  Water is essential for the growth of plants.

 It is used by plants during their food-making process called photosynthesis .  It carries nutrients throughout the plant.

 As it is absorbed by plant roots from the soil, it distributes the nutrients to the stem and leaves for plants to develop and grow.

 Water regulates plant temperature by cooling the leaves. It makes the stem and leaves rigid and upright.  It provides plants with water, which enables them to flower and bear fruit.

 Water is also an important resource in various industries and economic activities, especially in agriculture.

SOME WAYS TO CONSERVE AND PROTECT WATER RESOURCES

 Report Leaks: Report any leaks in faucets, pipes, or toilets to adult promptly to prevent water wastage.

 Shorter Bath Time: Reduce bath time and opt for shorter showers to minimize water usage.

 Turn Off Faucets: Turn off the faucet while brushing teeth or washing hands to save water.

 Use Water Wisely in the Garden: Water plants efficiently by using watering cans or dipper instead of hosepipes.

 Collect Rainwater: Set-up open containers to collect rainwater for outdoor watering, reducing the need for tap water.
