Today we will learn: Limbs Forelimbs Hindlimbs

Limbs The human body has two pairs of limbs, namely, the forelimbs or arms and the hindlimbs or legs. We perform many movements using our limbs.

Forelimbs (hands) Forelimb is located between the wrist and elbow. The bones present in the forelimbs are — humerus, radius, ulna, carpals (8). The humerus is a single bone present in the upper arm. Ulna and radius are two paired bones. We lift, push and pull objects using our forelimbs (hands).

Hindlimbs (legs) The back limb, or the posterior extremity of an animal. Supplement. The hind limb consists of the femur, tibia, fibula, tarsals, metatarsals and toes. We walk, run and jump using our hindlimbs (legs).

Activity time!!! Rotate your wrist some time. You will find that your wrist is rotating in a full circle, this is because of carpals. The wrist is made up of several small bones called carpals which make our wrist flexible and allow it to rotate.

Answer the following questions What are limbs? There are how many types of limbs? Name the types of limbs. What are the function of forelimbs? What are the function of hindlimbs?
