METASTASIS SLC25A24 is a mitochondrial gene that helps regulate energy and protect
against oxidative stress; its low expression in colorectal cancer
promotes tumor growth and worsens prognosis.occurs when cancer cells leave the primary tumor, travel
through blood or lymph, and form secondary tumors (e.g., liver,
lungs, bones). It is the main cause of cancer deaths due to the
disease spreading and becoming harder to treat. INTRODUCTION

CGMP/PKG1 SIGNALING PATHWAY COLORECTAL CANCER A disease where cells lining the colon or rectum
grow uncontrollably, forming malignant tumors
that can invade nearby tissues and spread to
other parts of the body. cGMP activates PKG1, which suppresses tumor proliferation,
migration, and metastasis while promoting apoptosis.
Blocking PKG1 eliminates these anti-tumor effects, showing
that SLC25A24’s role in colorectal cancer depends entirely on
this pathway. INTRODUCTION

OBJECTIVE Analyze how the mitochondrial gene SLC25A24 regulates
anti-tumor immunity and inhibits the proliferation and
metastasis of colorectal cancer through the PKG1-
dependent cGMP/PKG1 pathway

METHODS WESTERN BLOT Western blot analysis showed that SLC25A24
overexpression activates the cGMP/PKG1
pathway, decreases proliferation markers (β-
catenin, c-MYC), and increases apoptotic
markers (caspase-3), confirming its tumor
suppressor role in colorectal cancer.

METHODS QUANTITATIVE REAL-TIME POLYMERASE
CHAIN REACTION (QRT-PCR) qRT-PCR was used to quantify SLC25A24
expression, while CCK-8 and EdU assays
evaluated cell proliferation and DNA synthesis.
Results showed that SLC25A24 overexpression
reduced proliferation, confirming its role as a
tumor suppressor in colorectal cancer.

METHODS IMMUNOFLUORESCENCE is a technique that uses fluorescently
labeled antibodies to visualize specific
proteins inside cells under a microscope.

METHODS IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY is a technique applied to patient tissue
that uses antibodies to detect and
measure specific proteins, linking them
to disease context.

DISCUSSION

CONCLUSION Through molecular biology, we were able to
understand the role of the mitochondrial protein
SLC25A24 in colorectal cancer.
By analyzing signaling pathways, we connected
basic research with medical practice
We conclude that molecular biology
opens diagnostic and therapeutic
opportunities.
