The scripture today was Mark 6:1-13. Summary:
1. Jesus Himself was rejected by those overly familiar with Him that they were not able to see Him for who He is. Question is: are we the same? Are we over familiar with Him that we are not able to let Him work through us?
2. Jesus knows when we share we too will experience rejection and unbelief. He said not to be too stressed but to move on. Our roles are to spread the seed and water. The growth depends on the Holy Spirit
3. Let our service itself be the rewards themselves. The results of our service we don’t need to measure. That will be done by the Lord when we see Him again.
4. So just point to Him, dwell in Him and His Word.

4. Today … What does God’s Word have to say to us today? Mark 6: 1-13

5. 6:1 He left that place and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. 6:2 On the sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astounded. They said, "Where did this man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What deeds of power are being done by his hands!

6. What is the message for TODAY? Even Jesus was rejected … especially in His own hometown While people were amazed at Jesus’ teaching (with authority) People from His home were blinded by familiarity (thus) They found it difficult to believe Question to us today: How about us? Are we blinded to the power and work of Jesus in our lives? Because of over-familiarity? (Looking / Assessing ourselves)

7. 6:4 Then Jesus said to them, "Prophets are not without honour, except in their hometown, and among their own kin, and in their own house." 6:5 And he could do no deed of power there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and cured them. 6:6 And he was amazed at their unbelief. Then he went about among the villages teaching. 6:7 He called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits.

8. What is the message for TODAY? Jesus expects it, and thus instructs His disciples accordingly Jesus knows humanity: they may develop faith But faith can be blocked/hindered by familiarity That is a problem we tend to face as humans Question to us today: Are we facing the same issue? Do we have difficulty sharing our faith with the people closest to us? Why is that so? What is a possible solution? (Looking/Assessing our lives’ challenges)

9. 6:8 He ordered them to take nothing for their journey except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belts; 6:9 but to wear sandals and not to put on two tunics. 6:10 He said to them, "Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave the place. 6:11 If any place will not welcome you and they refuse to hear you, as you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them." 6:12 So they went out and proclaimed that all should repent. 6:13 They cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

10. What is the message for TODAY? Jesus gave instructions, they obeyed, they were successful Jesus warns: like Him, we will face rejection When rejected, do not be held back, just move on When sharing, bless those whom are receptive, and accept their blessing When going around, don’t spend too much resources preparing resources Trust God Question to us today: Are we spending time sharing? Or wasting time preparing? (Looking/Assessing our mission readiness)

11. PRACTICALLY how do we do that? Be part of God’s family Be filled with the Spirit Know our roles: Pointing to Christ And …. Study/Soak in the Word…

12. PRACTICALLY how do we do that? No expectations of earthly rewards Serving is the reward

13. All we like sheep have gone astray Each of us turning our own separate way We have all sinned and fallen short of Your glory But Your glory is what we desire to see And in Your presence is where we long to be All we like sheep

14. Oh Lord Show us your mercy and grace Take us to Your holy place Forgive our sin and heal our land we long to live In Your presence once again

15. Taking our sickness, Taking our pain Jesus the sacrifice lamb has been slain He was despised, rejected by men He took our sin draw us near to You Father through Jesus Your son let us worship before You cleansed by Your Blood

16. Oh Lord Show us your mercy and grace Take us to Your holy place Forgive our sin and heal our land we long to live In Your presence once again
