Sharpen The Saw (Habit 7) Presented by : Asma Batool and Saba Yousaf Beaconhouse School System Wah Cantt

Habit 7 is taking the time to sharpen the saw By this habit we can work more quickly and effortlessly. It helps to keep the balance of Personal Production Capability . Sharpening the saw is about constantly renewing ourself. INTRODUCTION

E xercising on a regular basis The physical dimension involves caring for your physical body- eating the right food, getting enough rest. If we dont have a regular exercise programme, eventually we will develop health problems.

Benefits of Physical Exercise A good exercise programme builds your body in three areas: endurance, flexibility and strength Endurance comes from aerobic exercise . Flexibility comes through stretching Strength comes from muscle resistance exercises .

THE SPIRITUAL DIMENSION The spiritual dimension is your core, your center, your commitment to your value system. It draws upon the sources that inspire and uplift you and tie you to timeless truths of humanity. Renewing the spiritual dimension provides leadership to your life.

Some people find renewal in daily prayerful meditation Others find renewal through immersion in great literature or great music Some find renewal in the daily communion with nature where they find peace and harmony

Personal Mission Statement In our daily spiritual renewal Personal mission statement is important because it enables us to have an understanding of our centre /purpose which we can review frequently. We can visualize and live out the events of the day in harmony with those values.

THE MENTAL DIMENSION Surveys indicate that the television is turned on in most homes thirty- five to forty hours per week. It is the great obstacle to mental renewal. Most of the programming is a waste of time. Its important to keep your mind sharp by reading, writing, organizing and planning. Read broadly and expose yourself to great minds

Private Victory Every day we should commit at least one hour to renewal in the first three dimensions: physical, mental, and spiritual. This practice is a "Daily Private Victory.“ It will build the long-term physical ,spiritual and mental strength to enable you to handle difficult challenges in life.

THE SOCIAL DIMENSION The social/emotional dimension focuses on the principles of interpersonal leadership, empathic communication and creative cooperation. Renewing our social/emotional dimension requires to focus and exercise in our interaction with others 

Scripting others

BALANCE IN RENEWAL Self renewal must include balanced renewal in all four dimensions--physical, spiritual, mental and social/emotional. Neglecting any one area negatively impacts the rest.

THE UPWARD SPIRAL Moving along the upward spiral requires us to learn, commit and do on increasingly higher planes . Renewal is the principle and process that empowers us to move on an upward spiral of growth and change, of continuous improvement.
