Types of Sports Injuries

Acute injuries Chronic injuries Sports injuries are broadly categorized into two kinds:

Acute Fracture- the result of a traumatic injury that causes a clean and immediate break in the bone. Stress Fractures- a very small, fine break in the bone as a result of continuous overuse. Growth plate fractures- affects the layer of growing tissue near the ends of a child's bones.

B. Dislocation - a separation of two bones where they meet at a joint.

C. Sprain - an injury to a ligament caused by stretching the ligament too far or tearing it

D. Tendonitis - when a tendon is inflamed

E. Bursitis - inflammation of the bursa. -fluid-filled sac that works as a cushion and gliding surface to reduce friction between tissues of the body
