We have visited Raikela & Tantra Iron Ore M ine on August 2 nd and 3 rd , and as part of visit we have discussed the following points with M. JP Raut(Geologist). The bench height is kept around 6 m and bench width at 8m. Ultimate pit angle of pit is 35 °. Iron ore is not found after the appearance of white shell. Last year production was 1.079 MT. At present total number of labours working in mine is 149. At the northern side, Clustered Mining is going in association with Jindal in which both mines takes equal quantity of ore. Production target of month July from different screening plant Face wise production target for manual sorting/plot raising in July Total 6 Dumpers of 20T capacity and 17 Dumpers of 35T capacity are currently being used in mine. Total number of shovels used in mine are 15. Only 1 Dozer is currently in use. Screening and crushing operations are done in this plant, It is electrically operated machine. Firstly, shovel dump ore in upper part of plant. Less than 40mm size particle go in screening and More than 40mm size go in crusher. There is one worker needed in downside who can manually separate ore greater than 150 mm size. Less than 40 mm size particle again separated by screening. Currently, 2 drilling machines are available for drilling operations. In 1-hour, total diesel consumption by drilling machine is 25L. Those machine will drill 6.6 m hole at a time, and the additional 0.6 m drilling is called subgrade drilling. In order of safety 2 m distance is kept between two near hole. Those drilling machines drill uptorn 15m -18m times per hour. The angle of hole depend on face of band and also on the crest of the bench. Generally, in Raikela Mines they are considering 85 degrees angle to the crest of the bench. In Blasting process, Nonel explosive are used. Approximately, 15kg explosive loaded in one hole. Rock Breaker 8/6/2022 Change text via --> Insert --> Header and Footer --> confirm for all Slide 11 At here it is used for removing oversize fines that are too large or too hard to be reduced in size by a crusher Its operating pressure is around 13-18 Mpa . The chisel diameter is 146 mm. It is preferred here because of its high impact and low operating cost.
Slope Stabilization 8/6/2022 Change text via --> Insert --> Header and Footer --> confirm for all Slide 12 In Raikela & Tantra Iron Ore Mine the slope stabilization is done through Vegetation method, where the slope is covered by a green mat and under the green mat, they are planting the seeds such that the plants will grow again on the slope and stabilizes it. Manual Sorting In this mine, the screening of fines above 40mm was done by labour manually Around 16,000 Tonnes were sorted manually by labour on average per month, and around 640 Tonnes per day .
