Definition
Sitz baths are warm, shallow baths people use to cleanse the perineum
and relieve pain and itching in this area.

History
The first documented use of a sitz bath in the United States was in
1859.
Initially, a sitz bath was a metal half bathtub.
People soaked the lower half of their bodies in a reclining position.

A sitz bath is a warm, shallow bath in basin, to cleanse the perineum
A sitz bath can also provide relief from pain oritchingin the genital area.
My practice
1.to add 2 tablespoon of table salt to
the warm water
1.For 30 minutes
2.For soothing for 1 or 2 times
3.For infected pathology for 7 days or as long as needed, after defecation.

Mechanism
The mechanism of how the Sitz bath relieves pain is
unclear.
Shafik (1993) attempted to explain the physiological
mechanism involved in the relief of pain and edema.
by relaxing the internal anal sphincter, causing a
decrease in the rectal neck pressure and internal
anal sphincter electromyographic activitythrough a
mechanism involving the thermosphincteric reflex
